The Palm Beach County Food Bank is committed to being a strong leader for the other stakeholders and organizations that join us in addressing the issues surrounding hunger in Palm Beach County. There is a collective resolve in working together to help children, families and seniors in our community.
We are focused on fighting hunger in Palm Beach County through five programs – Partner Marketplace, Pop-Up Farmer's Market, Benefits Outreach, Childhood Hunger Initiatives (Lois' Food4Kids, Weekend Food for Kids, and School Pantries), and Senior Hunger Initiatives. We support close to 200 partner agencies in Palm Beach County
with food, programs, resources and services.
In 2009, frustrated by the lack of a coordinated response to hunger issues and aware that local needs were growing beyond the availability of local services, the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties began the “Alleviate Hunger Initiative.” The Foundation and six other funders began meeting to address these issues. In February 2012, with the support of a core group of funders, the Palm Beach County Food Bank incorporated and absorbed a locally-led Community Food Truck Operation. The Palm Beach County Food Bank moved into its first refrigerated warehouse in September, 2012 and the organization as we know it today was born.
